In 2004 Alasdair, Matthew and Paul formed a band. They called it Hot Club de Paris as there were no other bands in Liverpool called Hot Club de Paris at the time. They worked quickly, learning to be sparse like the Minutemen, fast like Black Flag and tuneful like Cap'N Jazz. They wrote songs about all the stuff that happened to them and on the drive home from the rehearsal room they practised close harmony singing. After a year of near-constant performing, honing, sharpening and tightening, they signed with London label Moshi Moshi in 2005. Their skewif pop and taut eclecticism is making moves around the country.
